Certificate and Associate Procedural training programs

The three-tier structure of the Certificate of Women鈥檚 Health, Procedural and Advanced Procedural qualifications is reflective of the progressive increase in knowledge and skills required and the shift toward independent practice as trainees continue from one training program to the next.

Certificate of Women's Health logo

Certificate of Women's Health

Intended for medical professionals with a special interest in office-based obstetrics and gynaecology.

Timeframe

Three months minimum, two years maximum to complete the program logbook and examination requirements.

(Four years if completing multiple programs concurrently)

Eligibility

You must be:

  • In your first or subsequent postgraduate year (笔骋驰1)听and either:
    • 聽Providing shared antenatal care with a recognised facility, or practising in an established GP practice where a suitable training mentor is available.
    • An RACGP and/or ACRRM registrar in a GP placement where a suitable training mentor is available.
    • Commencing or currently undertaking a hospital appointment in an obstetric RMO rotation, generally for a minimum of three months.

Associate (Procedural)

Suited to practitioners who have enrolled or completed the CWH and are in their second or subsequent postgraduate year.

Timeframe

Six months minimum, two years maximum to complete the program logbook and examination requirements.

Eligibility

You must be:

  • Enrolled or completed the CWH (and maintained membership).
  • In your second or subsequent postgraduate year (PGY2).
  • Commencing or currently undertaking a hospital appointment at a 欧美AV-approved training site.

Accredited hospital, or a combination of accredited hospital and/or GP practice with approved 欧美AV training supervision.

Associate (Advanced Procedural)

Suited to practitioners who have completed (and maintained membership status) or enrolled in the CWH and PTP programs, and are in their second or subsequent postgraduate year.

6-12 months minimum, two years maximum to complete the program logbook and examination requirements.

(Four years if completing multiple programs concurrently)

Eligibility

You must be:

  • Enrolled or have completed the CWH and PTP (and maintained membership).
  • In your second or subsequent postgraduate year (PGY2).
  • Commencing or currently undertaking a hospital appointment at a 欧美AV-approved training site.

Prevocational Pathway

Establishes foundation-level knowledge and skills in obstetrics and gynaecology, with a focus on preparing prevocational doctors for entry into the Fellowship of 欧美AV specialist training program.

Timeframe

Up to two years from date of enrolment.

Eligibility

You must have:

Completed and maintained the Certificate of Women鈥檚 Health, PTP or APTP, and meet one of the following requirements:

 

  • Completed either University of Auckland Postgraduate Certificate in Health Sciences (PGCertHSc) or University of Otago Postgraduate Certificate in Women鈥檚 Health (PGCertWHlth).
  • Completed or enrolled into either University of Auckland Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology (PGDipOMG) or University of Otago Postgraduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology (PGDipOMG).

Course Content

  • Twelve modules and three workshops

Fellowship of 欧美AV (F欧美AV)

欧美AV is proud to offer the only pathway to specialist qualification in obstetrics and gynaecology in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

Timeframe

Six years, consisting of four years of basic training and 2 years of advanced training.

Eligibility

You must be:

  • Qualified in Medicine and Surgery, with a primary degree issued in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand, or from an approved international institution.
  • Completed postgraduate year 2 (PGY2) or above.
  • Secured an accredited training position.
  • Obtained prospective approval of your training position from 欧美AV

Course Content

  • Rotation through a minimum of two different hospitals, including a hospital other than your 鈥榟ome鈥 or 鈥榖ase鈥 hospital, and a rural hospital.

Subspecialty 欧美AV

欧美AV offers subspecialty training in five highly specialised areas of obstetrics and gynaecology.

Timeframe

Three years.
